CONCEPT — IDENTITY SYSTEM · SELF-INITIATED
Kalna
Brief
Kalna is a self-initiated identity system for a fictional small-batch ceramics workshop in the Latvian countryside — a business type this studio hasn’t been hired by, chosen specifically to test the constructed-mark method (drawn geometry, hairline rules, no logo-generator shortcuts) on a brief with none of the constraints this studio’s own mark had.
Decisions
The mark takes a single motif — a kiln-fired vessel’s cross-section — and builds it from the same intersecting-hairline construction as this studio’s own logo, proving the method generalises rather than only working for a print/registration-themed brand. The palette moves away from ink-and-vermillion deliberately, toward warm clay and stone tones, to show the system isn’t a reskin of this site’s own colours.

What it demonstrates
A full identity system — mark, type, colour, mini-guide — built the same way this studio’s own logo was, applied to a genuinely different brand personality.
